Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is the richest natural source of Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs). Fed to pets it can have multiple benefits:
- Reduces or eliminates odour and bad breath in dogs
- Clears up skin conditions such as eczema, flea allergies, contact dermatitis, itchy skin, etc
- Makes coats become sleek and glossy
- Helps reduce weight, increases energy, improves digestion
- May help with arthritis or ligament problems
- Can also be applied topically to cuts, wounds, infected ears, bites and stings
Recommended Dosage: Solid or liquid it can be added to regular food or given between meals. A good daily amount for dogs is about 1 teaspoon (5ml) per 5kg of body weight (but start at a quarter of this and build up slowly). Use similarly for cats and other animals.
Some pets may experience temporary side effects such as diarrhoea. If this occurs, reduce the dosage temporarily or cease use if unsure.
Certified Organic Confidence
Our whole operation, from traditional tall palms to final packaging, is inspected and Certified Organic by Australia’s leading certifier, NASAA. Without a Certification Number a product is not Certified Organic, so check all labels carefully. (Our Certification No is 2611P). As well as being free of chemical pesticides and fertilizers etc, one of the major protections for you is that to qualify for organic certification the entire production path must remain traceable. This means that the product can be traced from the store right back to the farm where it was produced. (Unfortunately there are vendors making organic certification claims on their labels but without even indicating a country of origin).
Fair Dinkum Fair Trade
We are passionate about using DME™ partnerships for Fair Trade. Our operation provides rural people with meaningful employment, a regular income and better living standards. Your purchase of this premium oil brings direct benefits to our island neighbours in the Pacific by creating a better livelihood and helping to protect the environment. Our coconut oil is sourced primarily from our projects in the Solomon Islands. Now more than ever they need our ongoing support as they attempt to rebuild their economy. You can also help us in this work by encouraging your local health food store to stock and promote our Niulife Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.
We were surprised a few weeks ago when a new customer phoned us to buy 5 litres as his first purchase. We asked him if he did not want to buy a smaller quantity to start with. “No, I need the 5 litres. I am a bit embarrassed to tell you this, but it is for my two Collie dogs. They suffered from bad breath, poor skin condition with some mange and their coats were not good. I had heard about the health benefits of virgin coconut oil for humans and had bought some from the local Health Food Store. More by chance than intent, I gave some to my dogs. They lapped it up so I began to give them a couple of spoonfuls with each meal. The result has been remarkable: the bad breath has gone, their mange has disappeared and their coats are glossy. The result has been quite astonishing and the VCO is much cheaper than veterinary medicines!” Dan
We have a red heeler or (Red Australian Cattle Dog) she is fourteen years old, she has been blind for about four years and her coat was so dead and dull (she's lived on dry food and bones most of her life but when I got the coconut oil I fed her a big piece in meat five times and I can't believe the difference in her, the colour has come back into her coat, she only had it five times because I was so good to everyone else telling them to try it and didn't have enough for ourselves. Cheers, Isobel
Dr Bruce Fife, when speaking at the International Coconut Forum in Cairns in November 2005, said that the improved health of dogs which had VCO as part of their regular diet was testimony to the fact that similar results with humans were not simply a “new fad with a ‘bandwagon effect’”.
